The August Wilson Archive is Now Open for Research Use

January 2023

The University of Pittsburgh Library System is pleased to announce that students, faculty, researchers, scholars, and the public now have access to the August Wilson Archive in Hillman Library. Researchers will have access to original scripts and working drafts, production history and other documentation of Wilson’s American Century Cycle Plays. Additional material includes hundreds of notebooks with handwritten notes, Wilson’s unpublished plays, audio-video recordings, photographs, awards, proclamations, honorary degrees, screenplays, and documents discussing film and television adaptations. The organization of the archive is detailed in the collection finding aid.

Appointments are highly recommended to schedule a visit to our Archives & Special Collections Reading Room on the third floor of Hillman Library between Monday and Friday from 9 a.m. – 4:45 p.m.
